COSMOS Organic

All Mervue Organic raw materials are responsibly sourced and approved for use by COSMOS, which stands for ‘Cosmetic Organic and Natural Standard". COSMOS is a globally recognised standard with certification bodies, brands and products around the world.

COSMOS was founded in 2010 by the Soil Association charity and other leading organic organisations in the industry, with the aim of creating a harmonised international standard for the certification of organic and natural cosmetic products.

Certification provides our customers with the assurance that all of our products are formulated using raw materials that come from sustainable farming. All our ingredients are grown, harvested and processed sustainably and ethically without chemicals, synthetic pesticides or herbicides.

Mervue Organic provides COSMOS with certificates of organic status for all our suppliers. All the ingredients are traceable back to the field in which they were grown. All our ingredients are GM free. Our formulas, labelling and production methods and production facility are examined regularly by the COSMOS audit team.  Our recyclable glass bottles and pump materials have also been approved by COSMOS.

Cruelty Free International

Mervue Natural Skincare believes that beauty products should be cruelty free. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.

All of our Mervue Organic cosmetic products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.

COMMITMENT TO CRUELTY FREE

Mervue Organic products are never tested on animals at any stage of product development. We also do not contract any third parties to conduct animal testing on our behalf. We are committed to the global adoption of alternative safety testing methods and the elimination of animal testing on products worldwide.

Trust is crucial when buying a product. External verification of a claim by a trustworthy organisation such as Cruelty Free International helps to cement that trust. Obtaining Leaping Bunny approval means that customers can buy our skin care products knowing that they meet the strict Leaping Bunny criteria.

FSC Forestry Stewardship Council

All our product cartons are FSC® sustainability sourced. The FSC certification is considered the "gold standard" designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious and economically viable. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, half of the world's forests have already been altered, degraded, destroyed or converted into other land uses. Much of the remaining forests today suffer from illegal exploitation and otherwise poor management. FSC was established as a response to these concerns over global deforestation.

When sourcing our packaging we took the following into consideration -

We wanted sustainable raw materials or packaging from a sustainable source.

We chose recyclable packaging compatible with recycling processes and created clear instructions so that the end users will know to recycle the packaging. We also work closely with our recyclable waste company.

We minimise waste and make sure items are as efficient as possible.
